You might be able to play disc golf at Wythogan Park before the end of the year. Knox Mayor Dennis Estok told the city council last week that he’s signed a contract for course design. “He thinks we can still get it in, maybe possibly by fall, and we’ll see how that goes,” Estok said.
Last month, the Knox Redevelopment Commission agreed to contribute $4,500 in TIF money, matching the $4,500 in Riverboat Fund money the city council approved in July.
Estok says there appears to be interest in disc golf. “I do know I was talking to a guy from Knox, and he does play disc golf,” Estok told council members. “They go to South Bend. There’s about seven of them that go quite a bit. So we should have some people interested in that.”
He told the redevelopment commission last month that it’s part of a larger goal of having something in the park for all ages.
