One person died in a single vehicle accident in Starke County Saturday night.
Officers from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department were called to the scene just before 11 p.m. CT on State Road 8 just west of Range Road. The vehicle hit a tree in that area, according to the report.
Police say the driver, 22-year-old Aaron Edward James of Knox, was airlifted from the scene while the passenger, 19-year-old Anna Trent of North Judson, was deceased. The next of kin was notified.
The Indiana State Police reconstruction team was called to the scene. The preliminary investigation reportedly found speed to be a factor in the case. The accident remains under investigation.
The Starke County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Knox-Center Township Fire Department, Starke County Coroner’s Office, Indiana State Police, Indiana Department of Transportation, and Samaritan Med Flight.
