Trick-or-Treat Hours, Safety Tips for Halloween

Trick-or-treating is scheduled over the course of two days in the Starke and Pulaski County areas and police urge parents and children to be safe.

Two communities in Pulaski County will have trick-or-treating Saturday, October 30.  They include Medaryville and Francesville from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET.

On October 31, trick-or-treating is in Winamac from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET, and in Monterey from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET.  In Starke County, North Judson will have trick-or-treating from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. CT.  The hours in Hamlet are from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. CT, and in Knox from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. CT.

Troopers from the Indiana State Police ask parents to ensure children have a flashlight, glow stick, or reflective material on their costume so they can be seen clearly.

Children should always be accompanied by an adult or use a buddy system.  Have a plan if groups get separated.  It is recommended that children trick-or-treat at homes that have an outdoor light on.  They should never enter the home of a stranger.  Treats should be inspected by adults before being consumed.

Drivers should slow down and travel with caution during trick-or-treat hours.
