Starke County Highway Superintendent Dan Dipert and Starke County EMS Director Eric Wood are looking for employees for their departments.
Dipert told the Starke County Commissioners last week that he is mostly looking for CDL truck drivers. There are three positions open with the highway department.
EMS Director Eric Wood, who took over the position from Travis Clary October 30, said he is looking for paramedics and EMTs. He said he has been picking up shifts on the ambulances in order to fill gaps where there is a shortage of staff.
Wood said he is attempting to look at vacation and sick time to make it more favorable to the staff and to potential employees as they are unique in working a 24-hour shift. The commissioners will look into the proposal and consider the changes at a later time. The pay structure has also been discussed in past conversations.
