A North Judson woman was arrested Thursday, December 9 following an accident on I-80/94 eastbound near the 14 mile marker.
A preliminary investigation by the Indiana State Police reportedly showed that a Lake Station Police Department officer was traveling in his squad car when it was rear-ended by a red 2017 Mazda. Police say an investigation found that the driver of the Mazda, 20-year-old Ashley Kretchmer, of North Judson, had consumed alcoholic beverages and reportedly failed a certified chemical test for intoxication. She allegedly registered .17% BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) which is over the legal limit of .08%.
Kretchmer faces preliminary misdemeanor charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating a vehicle with a BAC of .15% or above, and minor in consumption of alcoholic beverages. Formal charges are pending with the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office.
There were no injuries reported.
Suspects are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
