Starke County Highway Department Superintendent Dan Dipert is still looking for truck drivers.
He told the commissioners this week that the shortage of four part-time CDL drivers could become somewhat of a travel issue when the county finally sees accumulating snow. There are a couple of employees that could drive snow plows in emergency situations so two areas could be covered, but part-time drivers are still needed.
He asked the commissioners if he could increase the pay for those drivers, but he will formally appear before the Starke County Council members December 20 to request that increase.
Applications are available on the county’s website at www.co.starke.in.us.
Meanwhile, the Town of Hamlet is looking for applicants for a full-time position with the Hamlet Street Department. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license. Applications may be obtained at the Hamlet Town Hall at 10 S. Starke Street. They are due by noon CT Wednesday, December 15.
