Knox Director of Parks and Recreation Karl Swihart announced that activities will be expanding in the parks system this year.
He recently told the Knox Board of Works members that an indoor cornhole league begins Tuesday, January 11 at 6 p.m. CT at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center. An indoor Pickle Ball league begins Thursday, January 13 at 6 p.m. CT and runs through Thursday, February 10 at the Community Center. Swihart said he is working to incorporate more activities at the parks when baseball and softball leagues are not in session in the spring and summer. He discussed the use of a fire pit at the park, but supervision in that area is still being considered.
The skating rink in Wythogan Park is just about ready for use. The Knox-Center Township Fire Department recently filled the rink with water, but the weather has not been favorable to use the new feature. Swihart said opportunities to rent skates at the park will be considered.
