Knox Mayor Reminds Residents of Snow Emergency Routes

Knox Mayor Dennis Estok reminds residents of parking regulations during a snow emergency.

According to the ordinance, a snow emergency is defined as a weather event during which four inches of snow or more is expected to accumulate.  At this time, those vehicles parked on snow emergency routes are to move their vehicles so the city can clear heavily traveled streets with more ease.

The snow emergency routes include Shield Street, Main Street and Pearl Street from Washington Street to Culver Road; Washington Street and Lake Street from Heaton Street to Shield Street; and Culver Road from Heaton Street to Roosevelt Road.

If a violation occurs, officers with the Knox City Police Department will notify the homeowner of the violation.  The officer may remove the vehicle to any city-owned property or a private garage or place to be impounded until its authorized release.  A fine of $50 may be assessed.
