The North Judson Town Council members discussed the placement of campaign signs when they met last week.
An inquiry was made about the timing of the placement of campaign signs ahead of the election. Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe said there is no current ordinance in the Town of North Judson that addresses the time frame of when campaign signs can be displayed. That may be included as the town council members look to revamp the ordinances, town charter and codes with American Legal. Rowe noted that the town last had the codes revamped in 2007 so it is time to refresh the codes.
Rowe said the council and Town Attorney Justin Schramm will look into researching the topic and discuss it again in future meetings. They would establish their own time frame or use the county’s guidelines. At this point, there is no time frame to put up campaign sings in the unincorporated areas of the county. The City of Knox does have an ordinance that restricts the timing of the placement of campaign signs.
