Knox Mayor Dennis Estok declared a snow emergency beginning Wednesday, February 2, at noon through Friday, February 4, at noon CT.
Knox City Hall will be closed beginning at noon Wednesday and will re-open Friday, February 4. Mayor Estok stated that the closure is for the safety of the citizens as well as the employees.
City plow trucks will be out working to clear streets, but if travel is not necessary, stay home. Remove vehicles parked along streets, if possible.
Trash and recycling services for Thursday, February 3 have been suspended.
A freeze warning has been issued for all water customers. It is recommended that all residents leave cold water running from a faucet in the size of a pencil lead until February 23. Customers will be charged their average bill during this order only.
Additionally, a public hearing concerning the potential formation of a Knox Fire Protection Territory is canceled. The public hearing will be Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. CT at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center in Knox.
