The Winamac Metropolitan Board of Police Commissioners considered the hire of a new police officer during their meeting this week.
Police Chief Tyler Campbell recommended the hire of Shelby Pickens as a new officer. Pickens, from Monterey, will be headed to the Indiana Police Academy in the fall for training.
The commission members approved the hire with a unanimous vote.
