The Starke County Park Board members addressed pier issues at Bass Lake during a special meeting this week.
There have been issues with pier installation as there was a hardware problem with the new aluminum piers. Many piers have not been installed yet which has caused concern with residents who would like to put their boats and watercraft in the lake to enjoy for the summer.
The board members agreed this week to purchase $16,000 worth of hardware to be installed by the contractor. The order was to be put in Wednesday with an order confirmation to be reviewed by Park Superintendent Camryn Kopka to verify it was placed. When the hardware arrives, which is expected to take two weeks, the contractor will have one week to install the remaining piers with the new hardware on the old marina pier, North Pier 1 and North Pier 2.
For those residents who have not been able to utilize the piers up to the point of installation, a credit or refund will be issued.
