Four Candidates File to Fill Vacated Pulaski County Council District 3 Seat

Four candidates have filed to be the next Pulaski County Council District 3 member.  One person will be chosen in a Republican Party Caucus Saturday, July 23.

The next candidate will replace Brian Young who resigned from the seat at the end of June. The candidate will complete the rest of Young’s current term which ends December 31, 2022.

The four candidates have met the guidelines to be on the ballot in the upcoming Republican Caucus, including the requirement that the candidate must have voted Republican in the last two Primary Elections.

The candidates are Jerry Locke, Terry Young, Keith Powers, and Jennifer Knebel.

The precinct committeemen in the four townships that are in District 3 will be allowed to vote during the Caucus to fill the vacant seat. They include Tippecanoe, Franklin, Rich Grove and Jefferson Townships.

Once that vote is conducted, there will be an appointment of a candidate to fill the Republican District 3 vacancy on the November General Election ballot. Brian Young was the candidate on the November ballot, but he has withdrawn his candidacy.

The Pulaski County Republican Caucus will be at 11 a.m. ET at 101 W. Main Street in Winamac.
