The Knox Community School Board members reviewed textbook rental prices and technology fees during their meeting last week.
Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart said work was done to reduce prices this year.
“In kindergarten through grade four, the fees are going to be $100 for each one of those grade levels,” explained Dr. Reichhart. “Fifth grade through eighth grade – the fees went down anywhere from $17 to $30 from where they were last year. We know that inflation is out there and it’s difficult right now for some of our families to make ends meet so Knox Community Schools is doing everything they can to reduce the fees that parents have to pay for textbooks.”
To assist in the lowering of fees, the school board approved a new Reading/Language Arts series which was purchased with ESSER funds under the category of learning loss which saves parents costs on textbook rental.
Additionally, Dr. Reichhart said the school board approved meal prices for the upcoming school year.
Dr. Reichhart continued, “Breakfast at all schools will be $1.50 and our lunch at the Elementary School will be $2.35 and lunch at the Middle School and High School $2.60 for the upcoming year.”
Dr. Reichhart noted that this is the first time in two years that the federal government is not offering free meals.
