North Judson-San Pierre School Board Reorganizes

The North Judson-San Pierre School Board held a reorganization meeting last week where a new board member was appointed.

Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin said the new appointee is no stranger to the school system.

“We did swear in a new board member,” said Dr. Zupin. “Sheila Akers was appointed by the Wayne Township Board of Trustees.  Sheila served as a board member a few years ago as a town appointee, but now she is an appointee from Wayne Township.”

Akers was also a former long-time employee at the school corporation serving as a Spanish teacher, media specialist, and tech director.

Akers replaced Jim Menis on the school board.  He was a school board member for three decades.  Dr. Zupin expressed her appreciation and the school board’s appreciation of his service to North Judson-San Pierre students and staff for all of these years.

In addition to the appointment, the board reappointed Derrick Stalbaum as board president, Jeri Brewer as vice president and Sandy Kersting-Rudd as secretary.

Dr. Zupin noted that the school board’s meeting day will remain the third Tuesday of the month, but the time of the regular meetings will move from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. CT.
