Former Pulaski County Councilman Brian Young to be Sentenced Monday

Former Pulaski County Councilman Brian M. Young will be sentenced in Pulaski County Superior Court Monday, August 22 at noon ET.

In June, Young, 47, pleaded guilty to Level 6 Felony charges of voting outside precinct residence in a plea hearing before Special Judge Jonathan Forker in La Porte County.

The Probable Cause Affidavit filed in the case states that Young lives at a residence on 50 East in Pulaski County, but claimed his voting address at a residence on 700 North in Pulaski County which has not allegedly changed since 2004.  Young also filed for office under the address on 700 North, according to those documents.  He reportedly filed for State Republican Delegate under the 700 North address in 2018 and in 2020, and he filed for Pulaski County Council District 3 in February 2018, and in January of this year under that address, and he reportedly swore to all of his candidacy filings before a notary.

Since he pleaded guilty to the charges, Young has since relinquished his seat on the Pulaski County Council and officially removed his name from the General Election ballot.  In a caucus, Jerry Locke was voted to finish Young’s term and to fill Young’s vacancy on the General Election ballot.

The plea agreement calls for no executed jail time. The charges may also be treated as misdemeanor counts, at the discretion of the court. The court will decide any sentence imposed in this case.
