It was announced during Tuesday night’s Knox City Council meeting that a new pavilion at Wythogan Park will soon be built.
City of Knox Mayor Dennis Estok informed the council that excavating and the pouring of concrete for the foundation would happen this week. He added the pavilion would be located on the south side of the splash pad in the park, giving more access and providing shade for visitors. He said this has been a two year project in the making.
The new pavilion plans in Knox have been part of the Stellar project approved for funding from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) for Constellation of Starke reaching the finalist stage in the 2019 Regional Stellar Communities Designation.
The county received $333,000 to be spent on projects. The projects included a trail head at Bass Lake, a restroom project at Norwayne Field in North Judson, and a new pavilion at Wythogan Park in Knox.
Mayor Estok said the project at Wythogan Park should be finished by the end of September.
