The Knox Community School Board members reviewed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program during their recent meeting.
Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart explained that the MOU contained language of the general partnership between the organization and the Knox Community School Corporation in that the organization would furnish the corporation with an instructor for the program.
The JAG program allows students to develop life skills to obtain a job. There are skills to create a resume, fill out job applications, and participate in an internship with local businesses and industries. The students meet everyday at the High School and students receive credit for that class.
New JAG members will be inducted into to the program Wednesday, October 26.
Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) is a state-based national non-profit organization dedicated to supporting young people of great promise. JAG is delivering the best results in its 40-year history, while serving youth who face significant challenges, to help them reach economic and academic success.
Additionally, Dr. Reichhart mentioned that the school board approved an upcoming field trip for the welding students.
“Our welding class will be traveling to Mokena, Illinois on October 27 to visit Local 597,” said Dr. Reichhart. “We do that annually and it exposes our kids to possible careers in welding. It’s sponsored by SCILL.”
