The Knox Board of Public Works heard from the Director of Building, Planning and Code Compliance Kenny Pfost last Wednesday.
Pfost announced an order to demolish 705 South East Street in Knox was issued on September 12. He added the owner of the property signed that order on September 27.
Pfost said the building in question is deteriorating with no electric running to it. The property is said to be vacant for three to four years. Pfost said the owner needed to show signs of improvement within 15 days of signing the order. No signs of improvement have been shown.
Knox Mayor Dennis Estok asked if the owner was present at the meeting. The owner said he is hoping to have work done on the building within the next month. Mayor Estok entertained a motion to suspend the order date and allow the owner until the next Board of Public Works meeting to provide evidence to the board that work has been done.
The board unanimously agreed to give the owner until November 23 to show signs of improvement.
