Representatives from the Starke County Youth Club updated North Judson Town Council members Monday night on the progress of the program and of upcoming events.
The Starke County Youth Club is an organization that supports kids and their families by providing a safe, enriching environment with positive role models. The SCYC hosts programs every day of the week, including Spring and Summer breaks, in North Judson, Knox and at Oregon-Davis. It is a place for children to grow academically as they offer ways of learning for the children that are fun and out of their seats and that they enjoy. Studies have indicated that children who attend this after school program have shown improvement in their grades from one grading period to the next.
An Art Show is set for May 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center in Knox. Student artists will have a chance to display their projects for the community to see. This gives children a chance for artistic expression. They get to learn about famous artists, artistic expression and more about themselves.
Additionally, the SCYC will be hosting its annual Radiothon Friday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT where community members can hear stories from club members, and donate funds to support what the Youth Club is doing to assist children in the county. More details on that will be coming soon.
