The annual Starke County Youth Club Radiothon is set for Friday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT.
Starke County Youth Club Executive Director Irene Szakonyi says the club offers children in the county a variety of programs.
“We have after school programs at all three of our county schools, we have morning care programs, summer programs that last six weeks, and enrichment programs county wide,” said Szakonyi. “We’ve really increased the scope of service extraordinarily and have lots of kids in our programs that we get to enjoy and celebrate everyday.”
She noted the staff at the Starke County Youth Club is what helps make the program a success. The community is also an asset to the Youth Club as the people help sustain programs that encourage the children in the county to be successful.
“I love the spirit of this community and I love that they see the benefit for the community as a whole because they understand that these kids who are going through our programs are going to be the future of our community. We want them to love and be proud of where they’re from here in Starke County. We want them to feel like there’s a future for them here, and we want them to be responsible citizens when they grow up.”
