The Knox Community School Board opened two public hearings during their meeting Tuesday night.
Superintendent Greg Mikulich commented that the first public hearing involved the school board and the Knox Federation of Teachers.
“Starting on September 15 we can open up negotiations with our teachers for their contracts,” said Mikulich. “That was just the beginning stages with the school board allowing us to open those negotiations.”
There were no public comments given.
The board then opened a public hearing to take comments on the 2024 budget, Capital Projects Plan and Bus Replacement Plan.
In the notice to taxpayers listing on the Indiana Gateway website, the Rainy Day Fund was advertised at $1.3 million, the Debt Service Fund at just over $2.9 million, the Education Fund at $13.8 million, and the Operations Fund at about $5.5 million. The total budget is $23,627,952.
The Capital Projects Plan includes expenditures on classroom, building and structure needs. The Bus Replacement Plan shows the replacement of two buses per year from 2024 through 2027.
Superintendent Mikulich said there were no comments made about the budget. The board members plan to adopt the budget during their next meeting Monday, September 18.
