Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred Tuesday, October 24 just before 6:30 p.m. CT at the intersection of U.S. 30 and 600 E. in Starke County.
According to the Hamlet Police Department, witness information indicates a vehicle traveling south on County Road 600 East entered into the path of eastbound traffic on U.S. 30.
A female passenger, identified as 25-year-old Lexia Griffin of Koontz Lake, died at the scene, according to the report. The family has been notified.
A male driver of the same vehicle was taken to a regional hospital.
The identity of the driver was not released.
The Indiana State Police was requested to further assist in the investigation.
The Hamlet Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, Hamlet-Davis Township Fire Department, Koontz Lake-Oregon Township Fire Department, Indiana Department of Transportation, Indiana State Police, and Starke County EMS.
