The Indiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division Lowell Post was contacted by officials from the Westville Correctional Facility Tuesday, November 7 to investigate an inmate death.
Police say the death of 35-year-old John R. Taylor from Greene County, Indiana was discovered at 8 a.m. CT at the facility.
A preliminary investigation shows that Taylor died from blunt force trauma as determined through an autopsy by the La Porte County Coroner, according to the report. Family notification has been made to the next of kin.
Taylor was serving a sentence for felony convictions out of Greene County.
This is an ongoing criminal investigation. Once completed, the case will be turned over to the La Porte County Prosecutor for consideration of charges.
