The Pulaski County Election Board members will be looking for a new location for early voting for the 2024 Primary and General Elections.
Typically, early voting in Pulaski County is held in the Pulaski County Clerk’s Office. However, with the renovation project at the Pulaski County Courthouse and the temporary relocation of the Clerk’s Office it is the opinion of the members to find a new location. The current location of the Clerk’s Office, which is across the street from the courthouse, is in a building that does not meet the qualifications of a voting location.
The board members are looking for a place that is ADA compliant, has ample parking and enough space to house machines and a chute for people to stand to wait in line to vote. They did present some ideas of places, but would like to secure a location close to the Clerk’s Office at 117 Main Street. They will continue to research the topic but they need to find somewhere soon to promote early voting.
Additionally, candidate filing start January 10, 2024. The offices up for election in Pulaski County include Auditor, Treasurer, Recorder, Superior Court Judge, Circuit Court Judge, three County Council At-Large seats, two Commissioner seats, all Precinct Committeemen, and State Convention Delegates.
Clerk JoLynn Behny noted that the commissioners and council members previously approved an increase in poll worker pay.
