There were no injuries reported in a accident involving a train and passenger vehicle in the area of Shield Street and Bender Street in Knox late Friday, January 19.
According to the Knox City Police Department, a 2012 Nissan Altima was crossing the railroad tracks in that area when the vehicle stalled on the tracks. The driver safely exited the vehicle when a train began traveling toward the location. The driver attempted to stop the train, but it collided with the vehicle.
Police say the Nissan was mostly over the railway when the train hit the vehicle.
Norfolk Southern Railroad staff and police investigated the accident where only minor property damage was reported and all parties were safe.
