Knox Community School Board Discusses Substitute Teacher Pay

The Knox Community School Board members took time to discuss substitute teacher pay during their most recent meeting.

Superintendent Greg Mikulich said a proposal was put in front of the board members to increase pay.

“We raised our substitute teacher salary by $10,” said Mikulich. “Now if a substitute has a high school diploma, they will be getting $80 a day. If they have college credits below a four year degree, they will be getting $90 a day. If they have a four-year college degree or a retired teacher they will be getting $100 a day. We also wanted to provide them with some professional development so we are going to be paying for their background check, but in turn the new substitute will owe us a three-hour training session which includes a tour of our schools and talking with our secretaries and principals.”

Additionally, Mikulich and Corporation Treasurer Kasey Clark presented the board with a review of the corporation’s budget. Mikulich said the calendar year ended financially on the positive note.
