PIT Count Set in Starke County for January 24, Interested Volunteers Invited to Meeting January 16

The Starke County Transformation Committee will be discussing topics tomorrow morning (Tuesday, January 16) that were covered in a recent webinar in order to complete a Point in Time Count.

The PIT Count is an annual count of sheltered and unsheltered homeless people across the United States on a single day in January. This year’s count takes place on Wednesday, January 24.

Families and individuals who have relied on the township trustee, churches, or charities to help them stay housed month-to-month are asked to participate in the PIT Count. Persons facing eviction, who rely on couch surfing, or feel they are forced to reside in an unsafe space are encouraged to make their voices heard. Multiple families staying in a single residence – not by choice – are also asked to participate.

All individuals interested in participating in the PIT Count as volunteers or assisting with efforts related to homelessness and housing insecurity in Starke County are encouraged to attend the meeting tomorrow at 10 a.m. CT at Community Services of Starke County.

Below is what will be discussed during tomorrow’s meeting.
