Knox Community School Board Recognizes Kindergarten Students, Band Program

The Knox Community School Board recognized kindergarten students during the champion moment Monday night, according to Superintendent Greg Mikulich.

“We had a great champion moment from [Principal] Mrs. Tarnow with the elementary – she had her kindergarten teacher Mrs. Amy Jo Berkholder there and her rockstar readers,” said Mikulich. “They actually had an interactive lesson with the school board about what they’re learning in class. It was a great, great moment and eye opening for us.”

Mikulich said the board received information on the band program from Director Craige Phipps.

“He talked about their trip to Hawai’i that they’re going on over spring break, and then also kind of a band update on the year of how they’re doing.”

The board also approved the distribution of Early Literacy Appreciation Grants for teachers K-3. Each eligible teacher should receive a stipend around $200 from the state grant.
