The Starke County Election Board and the Pulaski County Election Board members recently learned that the counties will be receiving 10 voting machines each from the Jasper County Election Board.
Starke County Clerk Bernadette Manuel and Pulaski County Clerk JoLynn Behny both stated in public meetings that the Jasper County Election Board was able to purchase 90 new machines and they were able to give the machines they were replacing to the counties so they would have newer machines for backups.
The machines are in good working order and they will be programmed by MicroVote as the counties prepare for the May Primary Election.
Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines will need to be purchased for each machine by the individual counties as there is a requirement to have that equipment available for the voters in November. Behny told the Pulaski County Election Board members Monday afternoon that she is working with the Secretary of State’s office to assist with the acquisition of the VVPATs at no cost to Pulaski County so the 10 machines received from Jasper County can be included in the rotation for the General Election.
