Starke County Suspect Arrested Thanks to Anonymous Tip

An anonymous tip to the Starke County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of a suspect for dealing narcotics.

Dan Ard was arrested Monday, April 1 just after 2 a.m. by the joint efforts by the Starke County Sheriff’s Office’s use of new technology, Strategic Response Team members, detectives, Saint Joseph County Police Warrants division, South Bend Police Intelligence group, and Pokagon Tribal Police.

Ard is currently in the Saint Joseph County Jail. The Sheriff’s Office also recognizes the North Judson Police Department, Starke County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center, the community, and federal partners that supported Ard’s apprehension.

Starke County Sheriff Jack Rosa and the staff at the Starke County Sheriff’s Office want to work more in partnership with the community so a hotline was recently initiated in order for residents to anonymously report illegal activity.

Call the number, 574-772-5958, and then leave a message. Once the message is recorded and the caller hangs up, police will follow up on the information.

This hotline is for tips only. If there is an emergency, call 911, or if there is a need for officer assistance, call the Starke County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center at 574-772-3771 option 2.
