The Knox Community School Board took action Monday night to approve the hire of Behavior and Academic Support teachers, according to Superintendent Greg Mikulich.
Mikulich stated, “This is for the Starke County Special Education Shared Services. This is going to be our co-op. It’s Knox, North Judson-San Pierre and Oregon-Davis. We have an alternative setting for kids that are in grades 5-8 and kids 9-12. The 5th through 8th graders will be located here in Knox and the 9th through 12th grader classroom will be located at Oregon- Davis. This is going to be a great avenue for our kids that need some extra support within our schools.”
Mikluch said Middle School teacher Shannon Kietzman will be transferring into the position of Behavior and Academic Support for grades 5-8 at Knox Schools and the board approved the new hire of Ashley Thayer to Behavior and Academic Support for grades 9-12 at Oregon-Davis Schools for the 2024-2025 school year.
He noted that both teachers have a lot of experience to bring to the Cooperative to assist students with needs.
