The Hamlet community is mourning the passing of Connie Bailey.
Connie Bailey, 72, passed away at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne August 16, according to the Hamlet Police Department.
She was a victim of a home invasion in Hamlet August 3 and sustained injuries as a result of that incident.
As previously reported, David Campbell has been arrested in the investigation. Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
Starke County Prosecutor Leslie Baker told WKVI News that an autopsy is scheduled with the Allen County Coroner’s Office Sunday, August 18. Baker commented that the results of the autopsy and related documents will be analyzed with further judicial action to be determined.
Officers from the Hamlet Police Department and the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office express condolences to the family and friends of Connie Bailey in an official statement. Connie had served as a councilwoman on the Hamlet Town Council for several terms and worked with constituents for the betterment of the Hamlet community. She will be remembered for her selfless giving, acts of kindness, strong work ethic, and devotion to family.
A Celebration of Life will take place Tuesday, August 20, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET at the Heartland Church located at 890 State Road 14 in Winamac, A prayer service will follow.
