North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Chief Todd Jackson announced to the North Judson Town Council members during their August 5 meeting that a new firefighter has joined the department.
He said Kathleen Durkin has started Firefighter 101 classes which is a six month course two days a week which takes four hours each day. The classes will be in the Marshall County area.
He added that one opening remains on the fire department, but handed out another application to an interested person that day.
In July, volunteer firefighters responded to 18 calls with 4 car accidents, 10 medical assists, 1 brush fire, 1 transformer fire, 1 traffic hazard, and 1 fire alarm.
