The Starke County Youth Club, Inc. (SCYC) will join Indiana providers of before school, afterschool, and summertime (collectively referred to as “out-of-school time”) programming for the inaugural Indiana OST Advocacy Week, August 19- 23, 2024. The celebration is a program of the Indiana Afterschool Network (IAN).
IAN is a statewide intermediary organization dedicated to advancing learning opportunities outside of the traditional school day, so that all Indiana youth can grow into healthy, thriving adults. IAN serves thousands of OST programs across the state, providing them with resources, advocacy, quality standards, and training to strengthen and sustain their programming.
“We are so proud of our kids and our staff teams,” states Executive Director Irene Szakonyi, “and delighted to share our impact with our local and state leadership.”
Elected officials and community leaders are invited to join SCYC on Tuesday, August 20 at the SCYC Knox location at 210 W Culver Road at 3 p.m. CT. Elected officials will have the opportunity meet and greet SCYC staff, and to see OST programs in action by participating in activities that include science, math, literacy, art, and enrichment. Club families are invited to attend the family STEAM event that begins at 4:30 p.m. CT as part of this event.
