City of Knox Awarded Community Crossings Matching Grant Funds

The City of Knox was among 200 counties and municipalities that received grant funding through the state’s Community Crossings Matching Grant program.

The City of Knox was awarded $419,433. Street Superintendent Jeff Borg said the funding will be used for paving projects including Mound Street from Heaton Street to the east end, Lafayette Street from Bower Street to Roosevelt Road, Portland Street from Culver Road to John Street, Prettyman Street from John Street to Potter Street, St. Louis Street from Heaton Street to East Street, and Lake Street from McGill Street to Washington Street.

Mayor Dennis Estok told the Knox City Council members Tuesday night about the award and reminded them that bids for the projects will be taken in the spring. The city will be putting forward match money for these projects. It will depend on bids on what projects may be funded.
