Starke County Deputies were dispatched to a business on State Road 23 in the Koontz Lake area in the morning of December 25 for a report of a male that had broken into a garage.
Upon further investigation, police say it was found the tools had been stolen from the garage. Deputies were able to retrieve video footage from the business.
A person of interest was identified the next day. Later that evening deputies located and took Clayton Conley into custody following a traffic stop in the Koontz Lake area. Conley, 52, from Walkerton, was transported to the Starke County Justice Center.
A report was submitted to the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office. Conley was then formally charged with burglary a Level 5 Felony and theft a Level 6 Felony. This investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact detectives with the Starke County Sheriff’s Department.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
