The Pulaski County Election Board members reorganized when they met Thursday, January 16.
Theresa Calloway was elected as president of the Election Board and Clerk JoLynn Behny serves as Secretary by virtue of her office. Aaron Hoover was welcomed as the new Democratic representative on the Pulaski County Election Board, replacing Jessye Gilley.
There is one outstanding campaign finance report yet to be turned into the office. The candidate, Tim Overmyer, has until Friday, January 24 before receiving a $50/day fine for a delinquent report. The report was due Wednesday, January 15.
The board accepted the IEC 22 form that outlines all of the election equipment which has to be filed with the state. Behny noted that the board will have to do something soon about aging voting machines. Some of the 20-year-old machines are having issues with buttons on the sides of the screens that voters push to cast a vote for their desired candidate. Behny said funding for new machines was denied by the council. She will be discussing the matter with Secretary of State Diego Morales as he makes his annual trek around the state.
Additionally, through the Statewide Voter Registration System, an auto-cancellation process takes place if a voter has been inactive in two General Election cycles. As a result, over 929 registrations were canceled. Some had not been canceled since 2016. There are now 8,542 registered voters in Pulaski County. Voters should check their status on http://www.indianavoters.com. The Indiana Election Division office will be sending out postcards soon for voters to review to ensure correct registration.
