Starke County Treasurer Kelly Graham asked the Starke County Commissioners for new equipment for her office.
She commented that three new printers are needed. She said most of them do not work and others do not have ink. She added that a new combination safe for the office is needed, as well as a security camera outside of the dropbox and three new office chairs. She said the total cost would be $2,861.92.
She said she knew that an exterior box was requested last year at a cost of $15,000 and these requests cost is much less.
The commissioners asked IT Director Stanley Budd said he will look into this security camera cost with other security cameras requested earlier in the meeting to go along with other cameras for the meeting room as the meetings are recorded live on YouTube. Budd commented that the printers Graham are requesting should work well in her department.
The commissioners unanimously approved her requests with the exception of the cameras.
Additionally, she asked for guidance concerning the payment plan for taxes. There are a few taxpayers who are on a payment plan and the State Board of Accounts said if three or more payments are missed according to the agreement, the agreement does not need to be honored and the property could go to tax sale. Commissioner Don Binkley commented that she should follow the guidance of the State Board of Accounts. She said letters will be going out soon.
