Starke County Commissioners to Meet Today

The Starke County Commissioners will meet today where they will hear from Planning Administrator Mary Beever concerning the recommendations by the Starke County Plan Commission for moratoriums on Commercial Energy Solar Systems (CSES) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

The commissioners will also hear from Starke County EMS Director James Garner with his regular monthly report, Maintenance Director Ricky Green will discuss renovations at the jail, and Treasurer Kelly Graham will talk about reconciliation assistance.

Highway Department Superintendent Rachel Oesterreich will bring forward the proposed 2025 paving plan, loader repair, and a discussion on the auger and spreading mechanisms on the new tandems, and Starke County Economic Development Foundation Executive Director Mikie Stogsgill will go over the contract and Starke sponsorship.

Joe McDonough from American Legal Publishing will discuss codification of ordinances, IT Director Stanley Budd will have an update on cameras and microphone quotes, and Carrie Block from 1st Choice Insurance will discuss passengers in county vehicles.


The commissioners will hold discussion on an appointment for city planning regarding city limits. They will also discuss Erl Henry’s appointment to the Convention and Visitors Commission. FEMA non-emergency funds will also be a topic for the commissioners, as will be internal controls and the employee handbook.

The Starke County Commissioners will meet at 9:30 a.m. CT today in the ground floor meeting room in the Starke County Annex No. 1 building at 53 E. Mound Street in Knox.
