According to the Knox-Center Township Fire Department, on April 2nd at approximately 6:30am, the Knox Fire Department responded to a structure fire in La Porte County.
Upon arrival to the scene, responders found a working fire in a 2-story residential structure. Both Hamlet Fire and Koontz Lake Fire were already at the scene and beginning fire suppression and search efforts.
Knox Fire Department’s crew ventilated the structure vertically and remained on the scene for approximately 45 minutes, assisting with overhaul operations.
According to Knox Fire Department, other responders to the scene included Hamlet Fire, Koontz Lake Fire, Polk Township Fire, Walkerton Fire, Kingsford-Union Fire, Starke County EMS, and La Porte County EMS.
