La Porte Recognized by USA Today as one of the ‘Best Small Towns in the Midwest’

According to a press release from the city of La Porte, the city has been awarded the number 2 spot in USA Today’s Best Small Town in the Midwest contest this spring.

La Porte was one of just 20 communities that were nominated by the national news outlet’s panel of journalists and experts.

In their description of La Porte, USA Today noted the city’s “year-round fun thanks to its three scenic lakes, historic downtown, and vibrant community events.” La Porte was competing against well-known summer destinations such as Mackinac Island, Michigan, which placed 10th, and Lake Geneva Wisconsin, which took 5th place.

Additionally, the greater La Porte / Michigan City community was recognized in a recent edition of Bottom Line Magazine for being one of the Top 10 most affordable places to live in the United States.
