On March 25, 2025, Starke County Sheriff Jack Rosa and department staff celebrated five employees who were recognized as their 2024 Employees of the Year. The Sheriff’s Department lauded their “hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving our community”, and stated in a press release that these employees “have set a remarkable example for us all.”.

Winamac Town Council members will meet in a special session this evening, to select a contractor for the town water project.
As a reminder, the water project includes the installation two new ten inch wells and well houses, two river borings, and a 7,000 foot extension of the water line in order to connect it to the water plant and the new wells. Continue reading

Those families were recognized with the Hoosier Homestead Awards. The awards have been ongoing for the past 40 years in Indiana and are a product of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture.

A Knox resident has been honored for their service to the community.
The Gleaner’s Ober Arbor Club honored Ed Hasnerl for his volunteer efforts. Hasnerl has served on the Library Board, the Gateway Committee, as the Starke County Historian, and on the IU Health Starke Hospital Board among many other boards and commissions over the years.
