North Judson Mint Festival Deemed a Success

Members of the North Judson Town Council and those attending the council’s meeting Monday, June 16 commented on the success of this year’s North Judson Mint Festival.

Comments were positive which included the increased attendance, the number of food and merchandise vendors, the variety of activities and the music.  Mint Festival committee members also said many people commented to them on how great the festival was.  They also mentioned that many vendors already put down deposits for next year’s event.

The Mint Festival committee will be meeting Tuesday, July 1 at 6 p.m. CT at the North Judson Town Hall to go over this year’s event and it is open to the public.  Anyone wanting to volunteer for the 2026 Mint Festival is welcome to attend the meeting.

In other news, North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department Assistant Chief Nathan Henning announced to the town council that Fire Chief Todd Jackson has decided to step down as chief. Henning said that he would be acting chief until a new fire department chief is elected in a future meeting of the firefighters.  He added that the recent fish fry and golf cart poker activity during the Mint Festival were successful again this year.

Additionally, with the DNR’s announcement that Land, Water and Conservation Fund grants will not be offered this year due to funding concerns, the North Judson Redevelopment Commission members agreed to take another look at park projects and focus on major projects in 2026 when the grant may be offered again. There may be some action on smaller items that fit the budget for this year and may be funded by other smaller matching grants.

The North Judson Town Council approved $20,000 to update the town’s ADA and Title VI plans.  Half of the cost of the plan to be put together by USI Consultants may be paid this year with the other half paid in 2026.
