Starke County is proud to announce that long-time community volunteer Mark Rippy has been selected as a recipient of the Golden Hoosier Award, the highest honor bestowed upon a senior citizen by the Lieutenant Governor of Indiana.
This recognition acknowledges Mark’s outstanding service, dedication, and lifelong commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
The Golden Hoosier Award honors individuals 65 years and older who have devoted their time and talents to volunteer service, strengthening the very fabric of their communities. Sponsored in partnership with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) and AARP, the award highlights Hoosiers who exemplify the spirit of an “unsung hero” — those whose extraordinary contributions often occur quietly, without prior formal recognition.
Mark will be formally recognized during a special awards ceremony at the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis on September 10th, followed by a private tour of the historic building.
“Mark has spent countless hours volunteering his time to projects and organizations that benefit the people of Starke County and beyond,” said Gwen Rentz, Starke County Surveyor and nominator. “His dedication and servant leadership reflect the very heart of what this award represents. I am thrilled to see him honored at the state level.”
As part of the honor, Mark will receive an engraved award of appreciation and an official photograph with Lt. Governor Micah Beckwith, which will be featured on the Lieutenant Governor’s website.
The entire Starke County community joins in congratulating Mark on this well-deserved recognition and celebrating his inspiring legacy of service.
