Sunday evening, September 7th, Kankakee Valley REMC reported a transmission interruption to their Whispering Pines substation.
They reported that the interruption had caused a power outage that affected approximately 700 members in the La Port and St. Joseph County areas, including those around Walkerton and Fish Lake.
It was later announced that Kankakee Valley REMC received confirmation that the outage was due to a vehicle accident involving a transmission pole. They noted that the process for restoring could take some time and that they appreciated customer’s patience during the process.
With the original announcement taking place at 8pm Sunday evening, it was only 4 hours later that REMC announced that power had been restored to everyone affected by the outage.
