The John Glenn School corporation has announced a public hearing to take place tomorrow, October 28th. The meeting will take place at 7pm and will take place at the John Glenn Administration building.
The subject of the public hearing is to review the tentative agreement on John Glenn’s Master Teacher Contract for 2025 – 2027.
Under the proposed contract, teachers would see a base salary increase of $2,500 in the first year, with an additional $250 raise available for those who earn a literacy endorsement.
In the second year of the agreement, base salaries would rise by $1,575. The pay scale for new hires will also be updated, setting the starting salary for first-year teachers at $50,000.
The agreement also updates the school district’s insurance contributions. The school board will no longer contribute to the PPO insurance plan. Instead, the board will cover 70 percent of the cost for a single High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) and 60 percent of the cost for a family HDHP plan.
Other contract changes include updates to the teacher sick bank policy and the discontinuation of the VEBA contribution (1.25%) after June 30, 2025.
The new agreement also introduces a system encouraging teacher participation in extracurricular activities. Teachers who work five extracurricular assignments in a school year will receive an all-activities pass granting free admission to John Glenn School Corporation events.
Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, teachers will be required to work three extracurricular activities per year and provide documentation of their participation to be eligible for a raise in 2027–2028 and beyond.
The agreement remains tentative until it receives formal approval from both the John Glenn School Board and the teachers’ association.
At the end of the hearing there will be a space for comments and questions from board members, before the hearing is adjourned. The public is invited to attend this hearing.
