According to a social media post by La Porte Mayor Tom Dermody, on Wednesday, October 15th city officials were made aware of a situation with a city employee.
The employee, while using city resources and being on the clock, used crack-sealer on McClung Road to create an arrow and write the phrase “Sherrys House”.
Dermody stated that this senseless behavior wasted city resources and time, and was an insult to the taxpaying residents of La Porte. He stated that the city would not tolerate the behavior, and that one crew member had since been terminated because of the incident; noting that others on the crew would also be disciplined.
Dermody went on to personally apologize to La Porte residents for the incident, stating that the city is working with Human Resources and the city’s Street Department to ensure an incident of this nature does not happen again.
