KNOX – According to an announcement from Starke County Community Services, they will be partnering with Pizza Hut this Wednesday, October 29th to raise money and collect food donations for the food pantry.
All tips and donations received at Knox Pizza Hut between 4 and 8pm Central Time on Wednesday; including tips and donations from dine-in, carry-out, and drive-thru orders; will go directly to the food pantry.
There will also be a donation box on site, for non-perishable food items.
Pizza Hut will host a costume contest during the event, with multiple Community Services board members and manager Jimmie Howard also in costume at the restaurant.
According to the announcement, demand for food continues to rise, and Starke County Community Services has been informed that some usual items will not be available next month, meaning the agency will be depending on donations more than ever.
Additionally, Starke County Community Services is currently recruiting volunteers to help at the food pantry and front desk. Volunteer hours are from 10am – 2pm, with a particular need for the ability to fill in when regular helpers are off.
Front desk shifts are available Mondays from 8-noon or noon-4, and Fridays from noon-4. All volunteer positions require a background check.
