Yesterday, WKVI reported on an incident that took place Friday at South Central School’s Prom Grand March, where an individual was arrested for bringing a firearm onto the school grounds.
More details regarding the incident have been released by the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office.
A report from the Sheriff’s Office states there were an estimated 1,000 people in attendance at the event, which was open to the public.
The individual with the firearm, who has now been identified as 41-year-old Joshua A. O’Dor of Kingsford Heights, was spotted by a parent openly carrying a handgun on his hip at the school event. After O’Dor was reported, La Porte County Sheriff’s Office Detective Deck safely removed the handgun from O’Dor and escorted him from the gymnasium.
The firearm was a .40 caliber Glock 23 Gen 4. O’Dor was transported to the La Porte County Jail and arrested for Possession of a Firearm on School Property, which is a Level 6 Felony. O’Dor was released later that evening after posting a cash bond.
La Porte County Sheriff’s Office reminds citizens that arrests and criminal charges are mere accusations and that every person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
